Oh Tannenbaum!!

We have been having some really bad, stormy weather recently, with the ferries cancelled, the planes grounded, so it was a relief to get over to Kirkwall recently to get the Christmas shopping. We only have a very limited time to rush round all the different shops to try and get all the things on the list, that cannot be found on the island. I always try to squeeze in a visit to the library, despite getting the library van over on the island once a month. If truth be known, I go the van and also the library as well. it is one of the best libraries I have ever seen, and the staff are brilliant! When I walked in this time, I got a lovely surprise. The Kirkwall Knit and Natter group had knitted/crocheted a Christmas tree. It was gorgeous! A wooden frame was made by the staff and then the squares and the ornaments were attached - fantastic!! Do have a look!

I love the knitted robin!

As I said at the beginning of this post, our weather has not been good. Last night it blew all night, the highest gust was 84mph, and we had a really high tide this morning. The sea breached our road in several places. The video below shows one of the breaches over the road.

The sea is on the left hand side, and the sea has breached the bank and is flowing over the road and flooding the field on the right hand side. We had to about turn and go the long way round to the shop. it is supposed to blow right up to Christmas, but at least we are not getting snow like some places.
Till next time
