Giveaway Competition

As you all know I live in a remote island off the north coast of Scotland. I love living here, and say thanks every day for being so lucky for being here, but, as with anything else, there are drawbacks. I can't nip down to the supermarket, when a recipe asks for an unusual ingredient - nearest supermarket 90 minutes away by ferry and only one return ferry a day. The weather can be severe, but having said that, we have not had the dumps of snow the rest of the country has had, and none of our roads have closed (thanks to our great roadmen!). I buy a lot of goods over the Net, but I think the thing I miss most is going to a Patchwork workshop and seeing and learning how things are made. I have great Webbie friends and I use the Net to increase my knowledge, so I am really excited about what I am going to tell you now.

There is going to be a new Internet magazine for quilters!!

It is only $11.99 for the year's subscription, that is twelve issues PLUS an extra issue free! Yes, that's right, a baker's dozen for only $11.99. Oh my Scottish blood is jumping. Imagine getting a magazine for less then $1 an issue and that is not all. The magazine has the following features -

  • You can print and file the portions of the magazine you wish to keep.
  • You can easily organize all the articles and patterns in a binder.
  • You get at least five patterns in the magazine and
  • You will have instant access to the magazine hot off the press. No waiting for the mail to arrive.
This is too much fun! I've had a sneak peek at the magazine and it is goood!!
Now for the best bit - No 1!

If you want to see the magazine too, go to the following link -

  1. Hello there Tich,
I think that you are missing a period after the "www." I've gone to check out the magazine and I am pleased that I saw the word "Canadian" in it (for one of the ads)...so the magazine will be relevant for me. I like the idea of how there are BOMs. Thanks for introducing me to the mag!

  2. Your link is missing the period after the www. As written it doesn't work. I went to the sight and saw the table of contents of the first issue...I want to win that subscription! Alot of runners which I have 'resolved' will be my 2011 projects...I've never made a runner yet and I've been quilting off and on for 20 yrs! for shame! :)

  7. You are so right! The magazine does look wonderful...I love the fact that it won't take up any space in my house! And, I can dedicate a memory stitch just for the magazine each month...and have the entire collection in one place! How great is that!!

  9. Well I'm not as isolated as you but the idea of an online magazine sounds a great one! My nearest shop is 10 miles away and at the moment the roads are like a sheet of glass, several are blocked and the snow keeps falling!
    Wishing you a happy Christmas!

  11. This new magazine looks like fun with the 2 blocks of the month. I think it will be good to store the patterns on the computer. My bookcase is getting too crowded.

  12. You do live in a beautiful location, but it is a bit remote. Understandable that shopping is a problem. Love the idea of an online magazine to help us out in our remote areas! Would love to win free subscription; but taking no chances, I have subscribed anyway.

  18. You are so right! Many quilters don't have access to buy magazines at the local store. The e-zine is perfect and much more economical.

  21. Fun, Rosemary! Looks like a nice magazine. Have you seen Fat Quarterly? It's another on-line magazine that I subscribe to. It's also quite fun. More of a "modern" feel than a traditional quilting feel. Don't know if you like the more modern look.

  22. Oh how fun is that! How wonderful would that be to have it just available online like that and not have to wait for snail mail or go to the store!

  26. I also live in a remote location, but not on an island. No ferry - just a mile and a half of trail to the car and then about an hour to town in good weather. I think online magazines are made just for folks like us, don't you?

  27. Hope Scotland is having better weather than some countries near by! I love the idea of a green subscription...

  34. I love the idea of an online quilting magazine. I already use an ereader and like the chance to cut down on the paper in my house. More room for quilting!
