The Gap

THE GAP by Ira Glass from frohlocke on Vimeo.

I don't know about you, but I question what I create all the time. The little voice, or the big one, in the back of my head tells me it is not good enough, it is not 'perfect', why did I try?  I have been put off so many times, because I think my work is not good enough, or I compare it to someone I know and I get put off...

...but this year I am trying to be different....walking to the beat of my own drum!! I have always done this, slightly alternative, but always trying to conform to the norms, but not now. I listened to the above tape, then went into the original, following the Vimeo links, and as a result I have been busy - very busy!! I have crocheted, sewn, designed, carded wool, dyed, spun - re from the other video -
' I HAVE BEEN A WARRIOR!!!!'

PLEASE NOTE!! I was given the info IN THE PREVIOUS POST from a very reliable person. As a result I did not check the info, but one of my other friends did and she sent me the following message.

I went and checked this on the internet... and it wasn't true. :-( on HOW TO SURVIVE A HEART ATTACK WHEN YOU ARE ALONE??

I saw this posted elsewhere, and thought it would be really good information for everybody to know.

HOW TO SURVIVE A HEART ATTACK WHEN YOU ARE ALONE??

Since many people are alone when they suffer a heart attack, without help, the person whose heart is beating improperly and who begins to feel faint, has only about 10 seconds left before l...osing consciousness.

However, these victims can help themselves by coughing repeatedly and very vigorously. A deep breath should be taken before each cough, and the cough must be deep and prolonged, as when producing sputum from deep inside the chest.

A breath and a cough must be repeated about every two seconds without let-up until help arrives, or until the heart is felt to be beating normally again.

Deep breaths get oxygen into the lungs and coughing movements squeeze the heart and keep the blood circulating. The squeezing pressure on the heart also helps it regain normal rhythm. In this way, heart attack victims can get to a hospital. Tell as many other people as possible about this. It could save their lives!!

A cardiologist says If everyone who sees this post shares it to 10 people, you can bet that we'll save at least one life..

Rather than sharing jokes only please contribute by forwarding this info which can save a person's life.

The New Year

Well I managed to do it again! I had great intensions of writing my blog twice a week, but as usual life comes along. It is now past the middle of the month, and this is my first post as such.

I have started with one of my favourite YouTube videos. This is an old one, but I keep on going back and watching it again and again. I am fascinated by the colour.

The following pictures were supposed to be posted on twelfth night. I always think it is so sad, when all the decorations come down, the rooms look bereft!

The overflowing tray on the left is of handmade ornaments, both gifted and made by me. The ones on the right are commercial ones. Notice the Christmas lobster from Canada at the front!

This is the pile of wall-hangings that go up every year. I used to make a new one each year, but I have run out of wall space and also momentum!

These are ornaments and items my children and grandchildren gave to us. Some of them are at least thirty years old. I cannot bear to throw them out.

Hope you all had a wonderful festive season, and that the New Year is good to you all.
Till next time

MERRY CHRISTMAS!!

I am sitting here stuffed with turkey and trifle, and just wanted to wish all my readers a Merry Christmas. We have had some severe storms and very high winds recently, the sea breached the road again, but we are snug and warm and have had a wonderful day. The family have all phoned/Skyped, and we are now sitting watching the 'box', having a glass of homemade wine.
Hope you are having as good a time as us.
